Mrs. Wehmeyer
My name is Heather Wehmeyer (it sounds like Way-my-er). I am from Michigan and have been living in Virginia since 2001. My husband is a police officer and we have two little boys, Caleb, 6 and Aiden, 3. I served in the US Air Force for four years as a police officer, living in Germany and Italy. I've also worked as a park ranger, background investigator, and intelligence analyst. My Bachelor of Science is in Criminal Justice and my Master of Science is Library and Information Studies with a concentration in Youth Services. I enjoy traveling and have been to many countries. When I can't travel I like to dive into a book that can take me to new places, real or imagined! I am delighted to be able to serve the students, parents, and staff at Pearl Sample Elementary!
I love books and reading! When I was growing up, the library was a wonder to me. I couldn't wait to go and explore other worlds: dragons, Greek Mythology, fascinating accounts of other children's lives. In middle school I discovered a number of books that stoked the fire of social justice in me; To Kill a Mockingbird, Night, The Cage, and The Diary of Anne Frank were a few that I found very influential. There is nothing like delving into a new book, or better yet an entire new series, and finding yourself caught up in it completely!
